Wi-Fi at EIA - free for an unlimited time
EIA connects to customers with online
services
July 30, 2010 (Edmonton, Alta.) - Edmonton International Airport
(EIA) customers can now enjoy free, fast and reliable wireless
Internet access starting today. Free public Wi-Fi is part EIA's
drive to connect with customers using the full sweep of today's
popular online tools and services.
"We're excited to provide EIA customers with free Wi-Fi
service," says Reg Milley, EIA President and CEO. "Free Wi-Fi joins
our array of technology and online offerings such as Hudson's new
'Tech on the Go' store and our flight information screen for mobile
devices. We're also connecting with our customers through social
media."
EIA's Facebook page gives aviation enthusiasts an inside view of
the airport's day-to-day operations and community involvement. On
Twitter, EIA is working to inform customers about weather or other
conditions that may impact them.
EIA also provides six business workstations with wired Internet
connections in the domestic/international passenger lounge
area.
Wi-Fi service at EIA began in June 2004 on a fee-for-use basis.
The contract with that provider ended in June 2009. EIA then began
exploring options to provide free access to customers. Operational
costs for the new Wi-Fi service are recuperated through
advertising.
Customers can log in to the new free wireless network by using
one of the following:
- Facebook account
- SMS password sent to customer cell
- Carrier roaming partner account
- Basic access for 15 minutes
The network name (or SSID) is: EIA_FREE_WIFI
"Be an EIA Wi-Fi fan" contest
