Villeneuve - The Newest Airport

Located in Sturgeon County, 15 km northwest of St. Albert, Villeneuve Airport is the newest airport operated by Edmonton Airports. Villeneuve Airport was built by Transport Canada in 1976 as a flight training facility for the Edmonton region. The air traffic control tower operated by NAV CANADA was built in 1982. In 2000, Villeneuve Airport was purchased by Edmonton Regional Airport Authority from the Government of Canada with the strategic obgective of managing efficient operations in the Edmonton region. Runway 16-34 and the Main Apron were rehabilitated in 2005, and Runway 08-26 and Taxiway Bravo were reconstructed in 2006.
