Construction at EIA
Edmonton Airports' core values speak to the issues of safety, environmental responsibility, customer sensitivity, and quality, amongst others. For construction and redevelopment, Edmonton Airports utilizes an internal construction and development permitting process at all airports managed by the corporation.
The Facility Alteration Permit (FAP) process allows Edmonton Airports to review all proposed construction and development to ensure the work does not negatively impact airport operations or infrastructure. This review does not replace any reviews or approvals required or conducted by the Authorities having Jurisdiction. No construction or demolition work can be done at any of the facilities without an approved permit, and any work found being conducted without an approved permit may be shut down.

Facility Alteration Permit Application
All applications will be required to meet the applicable guidelines as outlined above. To apply for a Facility Alteration Permit, fill out the on line application below, attaching any required documents with your application (click here for submission requirements). Make sure you provide all necessary information so as to not delay the processing of your application.
Most permits take five (5) working days to process, but a new development or change in use of an existing development may take longer to review due to the complexity of the project.

Important Notice (04/01/11)
EIA wants to keep you and all our valued partners informed of any changes to the operations or costs of the airport. You have no doubt noticed that the economies in Northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories are recovering and growing again, which will increase the demand for air service. This is good news, but as the Capital Region grows and EIA grows with it, the cost of administering the increasing number of facility alterations each year has grown as well.
To cover this cost, EIA will now be charging fees to process Facility Alteration Permits (FAPs). These fees go into effect on April 15, 2011. We recognize that additional costs are never welcomed by any business, but we have committed to ensuring the fees are in line with construction and development fees/deposits charged in other major Canadian airports such as Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary. In fact, the fees will still be lower than comparable fees for similar work in most municipalities.
